HISTORY
Denver Savings Bank is an aggressive “ON
THE GROW” small town bank that offers all the modern services
available at larger banks.
With
capital of only $15,000, the Denver Savings Bank was organized
January 2, 1902, by Henry Graening, J.F. Cass, William Milius, H.C.
Stumme, J.Kelling, H.C. Matthias, John Bruns and Henry Steege.
H.C.Wente was appointed president.
A new bank was built in 1968 at 121 S.
State Street and in 2001 a 1500 square foot addition extended the
bank to the north and the interior of the bank was completely
remodeled just in time to celebrate its 100th birthday on January
2, 2002.
ONE HUNDRED YEARS – ONE NAME!
During the 100 years since the bank’s
beginning, only five men have served as president.
J.C. Wente, J.W. Stumme, Dr. Ernest H Stumme and Paul
Buenneke, who remained president until January 1999 when he and Robert Buenneke sold the bank to PSB Corporation, a bank holding company that also owns People Savings Bank of
Wellsburg, and First State Bank of Sumner. The sale of the bank left all officers and employees intact,
with Dennis R Brandt becoming the new, and still current
president.
